Ben “Bud” Brigham’s video was about developing a core
philosophy of life. By doing so, we can
overcome our biggest obstacle, which he identifies is ourselves. He shared his experiences of overcoming a
dysfunctional family that included divorce and alcoholism. When he reached adulthood, after searching
for a purpose, he gained a foundation of confidence and a reason for
being. Bud talks about objectivism,
which to him means rational thinking, reason, liberty, and living. I like his understanding that there are people
smarter than you, and that it is critical that you surround yourself with the
brightest, hardest working people that you can. But he warns that they should
be people with similar core values and philosophies as you. I agree that it is important to live by our
values and to develop a core philosophy to follow. When we have the knowledge of who we are and
where we are going, then we accomplish more, and are more driven to do the
right thing for the right reason!
