Leadership example set by the Savior

There was so much to learn this week about good leadership.  President Kimball’s talk from 1977 about Jesus Christ being the perfect leader is such a great resource for understanding how to lead, and in what ways I can follow the model He has set.  Some of the insights that I gained from this talk include:
  • ·      Operate on fixed principles
  • ·      Be a listening leader
  • ·      Give others the freedom to choose
  • ·      Be accountable in our “no fault” society
  • ·      Time management matters

My other favorite talk to read this week was “Sheep, Shepherds, and Sheepherders” by James R. Moss.  The imagery created by using Sheep and a Shepherd to portray leadership is beautiful!  He gives 10 lessons in how the Savior uses leadership.  My favorites include:
  • ·      Love all of the sheep.
  • ·      Help bear the burdens of the sheep that is found.
  • ·      Get to know the sheep.
  • ·      Feed the sheep. (Yum!)

The Savior is so wise, loving and understanding.  As I seek to be more like Him in all areas of my life, I can find peace and joy.  Leading as the Savior led will help me to be more empathetic, patient and humble.

This week for the $100 challenge, I have been working on setting up a Facebook page for selling my product, and working out the details to market my “cookies and cocoa.”  I think that Facebook is a great way to market my product considering the great networking aspects that are instantly available!  I am finalizing my pricing structure, and what options I will offer in terms of variety in the product.
